Managing Partner Michael Wildes was recently quoted in a Wall Street Journal MarketWatch article.
The article discusses the fact that Facebook “likes” are now protected by the First Amendment, based on a recent federal court decision.
In the article, Michael is quoted as saying that despite this protection, “liking” could potentially create problems for visa applicants. An application for U.S. naturalization requires the applicant to state affiliations with organizations and a Facebook “Like” could be deemed an affiliation. “In the post 9/11 world we live in, such questions have a renewed relevance in protecting against international terrorism. If authorities have reason to investigate an application social media will be one of the first places they’ll look.”
