Wildes & Weinberg, P.C. Managing Partner Michael Wildes recently appeared on CCTV-AMERICA to discuss the Oscar Pistorius trial.
Was the final verdict in the Pistorius trial just? That was the question posed to Managing Partner Michael Wildes, who appeared on CCTV-America via skype.
South African born Pistorius, a/k/a the blade runner, was found guilty of culpable homicide in the shooting death of his long time girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on September 12, 2014. Pistorius’ defense team argued that Pistorius did not mean to shoot her – he thought she was an intruder. The judge determined that there was no premediation on Pistorius’ part, and as such, Pistorius will be held to a lesser standard, one of negligence, when he faces sentencing. Pistorius can expect to receive a sentence that could range from no time behind bars to up to 15 years in prison.
Prior to joining the firm of Wildes & Weinberg, which was founded in 1960 by Michael’s father, Leon Wildes, who is most well-known for his successful representation of former Beatle John Lennon in his deportation case, Michael served as a former Federal Prosecutor with US Attorney’s office in Brooklyn, NY from 1989-1993. In addition, Michael often appears on network television and radio to discuss important legal topics.
