DG Medios-US is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DG Medios y Espectaculos S.A., a privately-held Chilean company and a well-established music promoter in Chile and South America. Mr. Carlos Geniso is the founder and owner of DG Medios y Espectaculos S.A. This would not have been possible without Mr. Geniso’s efforts, contacts, knowledge and wisdom to convince not only the artists, but their agents and managers of the unique opportunity to reach more fans in a previously ignored market.
Under the professional guidance and expertise of its Founder and President Carlos Geniso, DG Medios y Espectaculos S.A. hereinafter “DG Medios-Chile”, is a successful entertainment promoter that has brought time honored entertainment to the South American market for more than twenty (20+) years. In addition to a network of associations with other local promoters in the region, Mr. Geniso has been instrumental in the development of new markets, corporate sponsorship and family entertainment events in South America. Prior to establishing DG Medios-US, DG Medios-Chile had focused on artists based in Europe who were in the past more popular in the Latin American market. Since establishing DG Medios-US in 2011, DG Medios-Chile has had major success promoting artists such as Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus in Latin America while continuing as a promoter to such British Icons as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. All these hugely popular artists have sold out in major Latin American venues and brought major professional technical crews with them and carried equipment provided largely by US-based corporations.
Mr. Geniso possesses extensive experience in the entertainment field. His passion for music led him in the early 80’s to New York City, where he was the musical producer of Charly García’s first album produced in the United States, “Modern Hits”, considered a milestone of Argentine rock. Mr. Geniso worked at the famed Electric Lady Recording Studios, formed by Jimi Hendrix and an iconic music place, in addition to the Record Plant where artists like Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, have left their mark. Thereafter, Mr. Geniso expanded his expertise and moved to international performances transmitted by radio and television such as the anniversary of Atlantic Records in 1987 held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He bought the broadcasting rights to Radiovision and managed to bring this concert to Latin America. It was a spectacular night that had for the first time on the same stage Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Yes, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and the Bee Gees. Thanks to the success of this transmission, Mr. Geniso did the same with the concert for Nelson Mandela in 1988 at Wembley Stadium, where appeared Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Richard Green and Status Quo, among others. Live performances became the focus of Mr. Geniso’s entertainment career with the promotion in the United States of Mercedes Sosa, who thanks to his efforts performed at Carnegie Hall (New York), Wiltern Theater (Los Angeles) and at the Boston Symphony Hall Theater. He later worked with David Byrne of the Talking Heads and his tour “King Momo” that had as a special guest Celia Cruz in Florida and Puerto Rico. The tour expanded to Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
It is at this point that Mr. Geniso returned to Latin America, with the INXS concert in Mexico, who played before 42,000 people in Mexico City. It was followed by Bob Dylan, Los Lobos and Sting who played to 80,000 people and Iron Maiden performed before 40,000 spectators. Mr. Geniso was the Creator of the First Latin American Blues Festival in Mexico City “City Jazz and Blue Festival” as the site where he managed, produced and directed great figures of the Blues’ world such as Al Jarreau, George Benson, Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola, Bradford Marsalis, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Robben Ford, Robert Cray, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock, Wallace Roney and Gato Barbieri.
