Alaya Gujral has become well known throughout the world in connection with the highly successful events and exhibitions she has been involved with in a critical capacity. She has worked with many prominent organizations and galleries in the United States and India, and has been profiled in numerous art industry publications and has been lauded as one of the 10 most influential person’s in Chicago according to a recent publication.
Ms. Gujral began her career in the arts at an early age. Her family is very well known and highly respected in India and internationally. She is the granddaughter of world-renowned artist Satish Gujral, niece of benevolent Indian Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, and daughter to parents lauded for their ongoing support and development of the arts worldwide. She attended college at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in order to hone her skills as an artist and curator, but she had already achieved a great deal of success on her own, prior to and after her additional education.
Moreover, over the course of her career, Ms. Gujral has been invited to show her own artistic work at a series of exhibitions, and she has worked closely as an Art Director and Curator with Canvas Chicago, where she has played a vital role in the execution of the organization’s successful events including Future Galerie, Voyager and Sub Chroma. Most recently, Ms. Gujral formed a new online art auction sweepstakes platform called “Future Galerie” and launched it with a series of “auctions for social justice”. As cited in the press, Ms. Gujral saw an opportunity to showcase local artists while working towards social justice causes like Black Lives Matter.
In order to qualify for an O-1 visa, which allows individuals of extraordinary ability in the arts, sciences, athletics, education or business to live and work in the United States, a foreign national must provide adequate documentation to demonstrate that he/she has sustained national or international acclaim in their field.
In addition, the individual must provide substantial evidence to prove that he/she meets three of the evidence categories defined by statute, as well as a written advisory opinion from a labor union or relevant peer group. The O-1 visa applicant must also show that he/she has an offer of employment in the United States to work in his/her field of expertise (or several offers of employment from multiple sources, along with a third-party Agent to petition on the individual’s behalf and connect him/her to the multiple employers).
