On March 21, 2013, international F-1 student visa holders from the classes “Finance and Accounting for Managers” and “Strategic Sourcing and Outsourcing” were privileged to hear from Managing Partner Michael Wildes, of Wildes & Weinberg, P.C. Mr. Wildes lectured the students on U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law with an emphasis on post graduate work including OPT, immigration compliance/work authorization (E-verify), as well as the procedures necessary for foreign born students to follow if they wish to remain and work lawfully in the United States. He discussed the various types of visa’s (i.e. B-1/B-2 visitor visa, F-1 student visa, H-1B skilled professional visa, L-1 intra-company transferee visa) as well as the path to lawful permanent resident status (green card holder) and eventually U.S. citizenship. Mr. Wildes outlined the policies involved, discussed pertinent deadlines for the application processes, and how to maintain good status and not in violation of our nations immigration rules. Throughout the presentation, Mr. Wildes fielded questions posed by the students and provided answers in the hope that the students would gain a clear understanding of the information given.
As a service to the community, Mr. Wildes lectures free of charge on the topic of U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law to universities, corporations, non-profit and social organizations, other law firms, immigration municipalities, etc. These lectures are free of charge and intended to increase public understanding of immigration laws and how to remain in compliance. Mr. Wildes has previously presented lectures at such noteworthy institutions as Yale University, Yeshiva University, Pace University, Berkeley College, and organizations such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Realtors, and other Foundations.
