WILDES & WEINBERG, P.C., MANAGING PARTNER MICHAEL WILDES, CONGRATULATES CLIENT ROUPEN “GOBY’ GOBALIAN ON THE MAIDEN VOYAGE OF HIS COMPANY’S TURBO CARIBOU 303
Roupen “Goby” Gobalian is the President and majority owner of Pen Turbo Aviation, Inc. Mr. Gobalian possesses more than thirty (30) years in the field of aircraft system design and maintenance. The company specializes in refurbishing DHC4 Caribou cargo aircrafts at its headquarters in Cape May, NJ. The DHC-4A Caribou is a highly specialized STOL (Short Take Off & Landing) transport aircraft able to operate from rough and unprepared runways. Civilian and military organizations for many years operated this aircraft, the U.S. Army being the largest operator with 160 aircraft which have since been retired. For three years between 2011 and 2014 a US military contractor operated Turbo Caribou 238 flying almost daily missions in Afghanistan in support of the US Army, air dropping needed supplies to our troops in remote parts of that rugged country. Because of the reliability of the Turbo Caribou aircraft, in almost 3000-hours of operations, no missions were scrubbed which no doubt had an impact on prevention of injuries because supplies were brought to the troops so they would not have to drive on dangerous roads to get them.

Under Mr. Gobalian’s guidance and expertise, the company has been successful in retrofitting the engines and systems of the aircraft from obsolete piston engines, to new technology Pratt & Whitney Canada turboprop engines. This retrofit has increased the aircraft’s payload by over two thousand pounds with operational reliability and safety, rendering the aircraft as an excellent candidate for the export market.
Pen Turbo’s exclusive Turbo Caribou design has potential for conducting third world famine-relief work, as an airborne oil spill dispersing platform, as a forestry service convertible water bomber/smoke jumper platform, rescue work, fishery and coastal patrols, and as an airborne geophysical survey platform.
