Michael Wildes, Managing Partner of the prominent Wildes & Weinberg immigration law firm, held an informative Q&A session for the foreign students at Cardozo Law School currently pursing LL.M. (Master of Laws) degrees. The students presented insightful questions about working legally in the U.S., including how to find an employer to act as a sponsor. Specifically, the LL. M. students inquired about H-1B and F-1 visas as well as marriage cases.
With over 20 years of experience in dealing with immigration law and related issues, Michael Wildes was more than happy to provide answers and guidance on these immigration matters.
Many of the students in attendance know of Michael Wildes as the Professor of Immigration Law at Cardozo Law School, a position he accepted back in September 2011. Leon Wildes, Michael’s father and Senior Partner at the Wildes and Weinberg firm, has had a long standing relationship with Yeshiva University and Cardozo Law. He originally taught the Immigration Law course for over 32 years, the course that Michael has graciously accepted to continue. The highlight of the course is Leon Wildes’ fascinating presentation on his legendary successful representation of former Beatle John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, in their high profile deportation proceedings initiated by the Nixon administration.
Michael Wildes is a former Federal Prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn (1989-1993), has testified on Capitol Hill in connection with anti-terrorism legislation, and is a frequent participant on professional panels and commentator on network television and radio with regard to corporate immigration law, employer sanction work and compliance. In addition, he served two terms as the mayor of Englewood, New Jersey and was a member of New Jersey Governor Corzine’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Immigration.
